The Urban Farmhouse ~ 2 Week Update

It's hard to believe that 2 weeks have gone by, and that so many changes have taken place. At least every second or third day, we're itching to go and see what the progress is. In photos it's very hard to tell, but because we see every little step in person, it's much more exciting for us.

Front of the house
This week they back filled around the house and built up the area where the pool room will be. And instead of having dirt brought in for this job, we jumped at the opportunity to have them pick a spot on our existing pond (that only seems to hold water in the spring and dries up by mid summer) and dig away.

Back of the house
Digging a real pond was in our distant future plans but this way we got it now and the dirt was put to good use. The only bad news was that it was really wet due to the water table being so high, that they are at a standstill for putting the piles in for the pool room until next week, after the dirt dries up a bit.

The makings of a real pond
So not only will the piles be going in for the pool room next week, but the framer will also be starting ahead of schedule and will be working on framing the living quarters of the house. If we think we see changes now, just wait until walls start going up!

While all of this has been going on, we've been making decisions on pretty much every aspect of the build and we've also begun purchasing key character pieces that we'll be adding to our design....our vision. The plan is to a have a new house with some vintage, upcycled character and charm.

Stay tuned because big things are ahead.....
