I'll be the first to admit my hate-love-hate relationship with water.
My whole life I've pretty much hated water. Last year I went through a brief love affair with water. It was strange but I embraced it and actually got excited about it. Then we broke up.
Getting water in has been a challenge so I've decided to take the next drastic step. A simple milk jug that tells me every day to drink my effing water!
Seriously, who hates water and then plans to drink an entire 4 liter jug of it in a day? Who started and then quit because that's a lot of water to commit to? Most of us have good intentions but let's be realistic here. Ditch the full jug and commit to a goal you can achieve.
((Maybe this works for others, but not me. Photo found on Pinterest)) |
I used this calculator to figure out how many cups of water I should be drinking, grabbed an empty jug, measured out the cups of water, added my motivational quotes and now my goal is to drink my effing water. A reasonable amount of effing water. An amount I can commit to and not fail at.
((My jug. I'm supposed to be drinking 9 cups per day)) |
- Water has no fat, no carbs, no calories and no sugar. If you are trying to lose weight, this is a no brainer as to why you should drink water.
- Drinking water can lower your risk of a heart attack by 41%, colon cancer by 45% and bladder cancer by 50%. That's incredible!!
- Tired? Extreme lack of energy? You're probably dehydrated so drink up.
- Most headaches are caused by simply not drinking enough water.
- Amazingly, drinking water and keeping hydrated can help regulate your body temperature.
- Looking to lose weight? Drinking 8 oz. of water before a meal will cut your appetite. Bonus!
- Cuts down on aches and pains. Have a back ache? Drink water.
- Makes you look younger and healthier. I'm sold!!
- Helps prevent constipation while flushing toxins and waste from your body.
- Composes 75% of your brain, makes up 83% of your blood, makes up 75% of your muscles and composes 22% of your bones. Pretty important, hey??
I'm on day 1 and so far, so good. Again, this amount of water in a jug is beyond reasonable and achievable for me. It also takes less than a minute to fill so there's no excuse that the prep time is cutting into my important day. My health is important, so for myself and my family, I've decided to do this. And if it takes a milk jug to tell me to drink my effing water every day, so be it.
Now go get your own jug and set a realistic daily goal for yourself. Your body will thank you.
Why all the "effing" going on? Because sometimes you just need a swift kick in the rear and a serious daily reminder to take care of your effing self!!! You're soooooooooooo worth it!!
