20 Date Night Ideas

Whether you have kids or not, keeping the love alive is a must in every relationship and having a designated date night will help that. It's pretty easy to get stuck in the same rut of going to a movie and while that's fine, it's nice to switch it up once in a while. Here are 20 ideas to help you out.

1.       Brunch and a Matinee – More expensive restaurants are cheaper when you order off the daytime menu and movie theaters often have a discount when you go take in an early show.

2.       G or PG rated movies – Laugh like a kid again by watching a light-hearted movie with silly, senseless humor.

3.       DIY drive-in movie – Bring your laptop to a quiet park bench, blanket under a tree in the park, outdoor patio at a quiet bistro, secluded beach or even park at your favorite spot and watch a movie while snuggled up to your loved one.

4.       Hiking – In the woods, along the riverbank or anywhere else you’d enjoy getting lost with your loved one and nature.

5.       Drive in the country – Also a great time to pack a picnic and don’t forget to bring your camera in case you see wildlife or some great old farmyards.

6.       Sip some fine wine – Check out your local wine or liquor shops for wine tasting nights.

7.       Get sweaty together – Go for a run, a bike ride, to the gym or take a yoga class together. You may just enjoy it!

8.       Visit the museum – Even the smallest of towns typically has a museum and cities always have plenty to choose from.

9.       Go camping overnight – Even one night together in a tent can bring couples closer together….and closer to nature. Don’t forget the bug spray!

10.   Visit the zoo – Without little ones in tow, you’ll be able to appreciate the creatures more than you normally would.

11.   Romantic dinner – Step outside the box by reserving a table at the fanciest restaurant in town and dress to the nines! Everyone deserves to feel amazing every now and again.

12.   Take a dance lesson – Loosen up, learn some fancy footwork and have fun together as a couple.

13.   Have a picture perfect date – Break out the camera and make stops at all of your favorite locations to take photos of each other and ask others to snap pictures of you together as a couple. Such great keepsakes for years to come!

14.   $20 challenge – Head to the mall, put 30 minutes on the clock, $20 in your pocket and see who can come up with the best, most romantic gift….but don’t forget that you only have 30 minutes and you can’t spend more than $20.

15.   Take a cooking class together – Fun for couples and can come in handy in the kitchen at home.

16.   Be a kid again – Play some mini-golf, go to the batting range, go bowling or skating. Find that inner child, let loose and have fun.

17.   Go dancing – Find a local club and dance the night away.

18.   Go to the amusement park – Enjoy some rides, carnival food and have your loved one win you a giant teddy.

19.   Go shopping – No, not at the mall. Put on your imagination cap and pretend you’re buying something expensive. Test drive your favorite vehicles and go to open houses that are way out of your budget. Dream.

20.   Spend the night at a B&B – Even if it’s in your home town, step outside of the box and enjoy a romantic night away from home.
