Daily Craft TV Review & Contest

Welcome friends! A short while ago I was approached by Daily Craft TV who asked if I would do a review on their site and on a video of my choice. Of course, I said YES! Until then, I hadn’t heard of Daily Craft TV and after only looking into it for a short while, I can honestly say that the folks are great, the website is great and I have learned a lot. Daily Craft TV provides online craft classes for quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking and paper crafts.

The video/class I chose is Fresh Scrapbooking Ideas & Design Techniques which has 7 chapters and each chapter has its own instructor from Creating Keepsakes, the popular scrapbooking magazine. How could I go wrong? I love scrapbooking and paper crafting.

So, here are my findings, chapter to chapter:

1.       Techniques Revealed: Creating Pleats & Ruffles

I loved this chapter. Creating pleats and ruffles out of paper is something I have personally never done, so I really enjoyed this. The flowers, in particular, are my favorite and I can’t wait to try making them. The instructor, Susan Neal, was very clear and easy to understand, which we all know is important when trying to create a project on your own.

2.      Design Workshop: Designing Double Page Layouts

This chapter is something that I do a lot of with my scrapbooking. I am a photo maniac and tend to take way too many pictures at the same event or time, so therefore I can never choose just one. Collages are the best and instructor Angie Lucas really gives us good ideas on how to make the most of multiple images and two page spreads.

3.      Journal Jumpstarts: Creating Unique Journaling Lines

I love, love journaling but I rarely take the time to create like this anymore. So when this chapter with C.D. Muckosky came up, I was excited! She has some super cool ideas for the creative person. I’ve never worked with watercolors but she has really made me want to. Her instructions are clear and very inspiring. Love this chapter!

4.      Techniques Revealed: Sewing on Your Projects

The title of this chapter sold me. If you know me, you do know I love to sew. So mix that in with a paper craft of any sort, and I’m sold. Emily Falconbridge is the instructor in this video and I have to say, she does a wonderful job with everything but I am really partial to the flower that is colored in with stitching. Fun!

5.      Design Workshop: Choosing Color Schemes

Instructor Susan Neal is back for this chapter and I think that so many people will enjoy what she talks about, which is how to choose a color scheme or pallet. For myself personally, I am not afraid of color, working with different colors, patterns and mixtures. But I do know that so many people are. Susan explains in a way that will help everyone come out of their color shell a bit, which to me is very important when creating any project.

6.      Designer Hints: Scrapbooking for Yourself

Take some time and celebrate yourself! Yes! C.D. Muckosky once again rocks this chapter. She & I seem to think the same when it comes to creativity. This is an inspirational and enjoyable chapter that I was pleasantly surprised to see. Basically, this chapter gives you permission to express yourself and tell your story in a creative way. And the Angels book idea…LOVE.

7.      The Idea Center: Using Enlarged Photos on Your Layouts
Unfortunately the video had an error so I couldn’t complete this chapter. But I promise you that I will update my review once the video is up and running again.
I wasn’t sure what to expect before watching the video but thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised. All of the instructors have a different approach to the crafting they were talking about, but they were all professional and I am impressed with their instruction. They were all clear, easy to follow and each offered their own set of hints, tips & tricks to ensure that those watching, and then creating, could easily have success. Will I be using the techniques I learned about? You bet!
The quality of the video was great, in my opinion, and the cost is very reasonable. Daily Craft TV looks to be a very informative site for the crafty person, which I am. What I find great is that you can take a class in the comfort of your own home, you choose when you do it and for us busy moms, sometimes that’s after hours when craft classes aren’t even offered in a store. And if you are unsure of anything later on, you simply go back and watch the entire video or just parts of it. How does it get any better than that!
Be sure to check out the Daily Craft TV website and also join their Facebook page. You’ll be glad you did!
Now on to the awesomeness of this review. One lucky reader will receive a free class/video of their choice from Daily Craft TV. All you have to do is leave a comment and say “I love Daily Craft TV,” under this post. That’s it! That’s all you have to do to have the chance to win.

Be sure to share this by email and Facebook! You have until midnight on June 30, 2013 to enter so ready…set….go!
