Sandos Caracol Eco Resort ~ 2016 Winter Vacation

Hooray! Our winter vacation is booked!!I'm so excited about the resort we chose that I have to tell you all about it.

Our family will be spending 7 fantastic days at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in the Riviera Maya - Playa del Carmen. We'll be there from January 19 - 26, 2016.

There were 5 resorts that we were deciding on and once we realized that there were 17 waterslides in the kids aquapark area, along with a pretty awesome looking kids club, we were sold. The first thing I do when researching a resort is go straight to Trip Advisor Canada and check out the reviews, ratings and photos. The ratings on the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort are awesome. I've visited many resort reviews with extremely poor ratings so I was happy to see such great numbers on the resort we chose.

There are 8 restaurants and 10 bars on resort which means there is no excuse for boredom in the food department. Tip: I've read to either book your a' la carte meals before you leave or as soon as you get onto the resort because they book up fast.

3 buffets:
  • La Laguna International Buffet
  • La Toscana Italian Specialties Buffet
  • La Mascaras Mexican Buffet

6 a' la carte:
  • Salvia Vegetarian Restaurant
  • El Tempo Teppanyaki
  • Fogo De Brazil Brazilian Rodizio
  • La Riviera Mediterranean Cuisine
  • La Toscana Italian Cuisine
  • Los Lirios Steak & Fish Club

2 snack bars:
  • El Nido Bar & Snack Bar
  • La Jungla Bar & Snack Bar

10 bars:
  • Mapache Chill Out Bar
  • El Manglar Sports Bar
  • Iguana Poolside Bar Poolside Bar
  • El Nido Bar & Snack Bar
  • La Jungla Bar & Snack Bar
  • L’Elefant Lobby Bar Lobby Bar
  • Ocean Front Disco Bar/Disco
  • La Tortuga Poolside Bar
  • Theatre Bar
  • Sirena Poolside Swim-Up Bar

Because it has been built in the jungle, the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort is surrounded by nature. We can't wait to walk through mangrove forests, visit the Mayan Ruins on site, swim in the cenote (natural underground spring), take a boat ride down the Mayan River and see dozens of animals, both wild and captive.

Some of the animals that can be seen on resort are parrots, squirrels, donkeys, monkeys (above), agouti, raccoon, coatimundis (below), deer, turtles, crocodile, iguana and even dogs & cats. For those who know us, know how much of an animal loving family we are! This is right up our alley!!

Now back to the reason we chose this resort; the Aquapark with 17 waterslides, 3 pools and an awesome Kids Club. Brielle (3) will LOVE it and we admit, both mommies will too!!

Doesn't it look like loads of fun?

I've read that the water is nice and shallow in the Aquapark so that kids can play safely while parents are able to relax on the sidelines. There is a snack bar close by so parents don't have to wander away from the kids. Nobody will miss out on the fun!

The Kids Club is geared for ages 4-12 with an indoor playground, crafts, tv, movies, sports and eco activities. Kids aged 2-3 must be accompanied by a parent in this area. And there is even a teen activity program with music, pool tables, beach soccer and much more.

Another thing that attracts us to resorts are the nightly shows. I've read that the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort has excellent nightly shows including 3 nights of Mayan fire dancers.

Every time I go do more research and read more review, I get more and more excited for our winter family vacation! I don't think we'll be bored one single second on this resort!!

So to all of our family and friends; there is an Adults Only Select Club but instead I highly recommend that you PACK UP THE WHOLE FAMILY and join us for an awesome Mexican vacation!

p.s. We booked through Expedia. Email me if you want to know how we found the cheapest price. crystaldyck@gmail.com
