Let's mark the date September 14, 2015, as the day the building of The Urban Farmhouse began.

We have officially moved from getting quotes, discussing our options for layouts, plug-in and light fixture placements, color choices and all of the fun stuff a person thinks of before building a house to having all of the trades hired, working on the property, making final decisions on our finishing choices and of course, then there's all the legal stuff. Our brains have not stopped.
Rhonda has been amazing. She's managing the build and organizing it all. I'm very grateful because I have to admit, I don't understand half of the details that go into the construction of a house. I'm more about "the pretty stuff" and I'm not afraid to say it.
One of the biggest questions has been "is there a completion date set?" The answer is no. We are having the house built to lock up stage which roughly means it will look like a completed house on the outside when all of our tradesmen are done their jobs, and we will then go inside to install walls, ceiling, flooring, fixtures, cabinets, etc. ourselves. And at this point it looks like we will be able to start our job mid-November if all goes well.
From there, we will be hiring "free" help!! Contact Rhonda or Crystal to submit your application. Or just say "hey, I'd love to give you a hand sometime when I'm bored and need to brush up on my painting skills." *wink*wink*
It's fantastic it is finally on it's way. It sounds fun but stressful you're doing the finishing yourselves. Our last major reno project left a bad feel for them with me. But starting to get the bug back for building.
