26 Week Pic

Mommy hasn't been feeling well for the past 4 or 5 days so it was off to the doctor for some blood work this morning. Not to alarm anyone though. Just gonna wait to see what the results are. If the doctor finds anything at all, she'll give us a call. If not, they'll just discuss it at Rhonda's next scheduled appointment.

What's been happening is, Rhonda has been feeling overly itchy. Hands, feet, belly, neck...pretty much everywhere. For a few days it was really bad. She even tried taking a Reactine (doctor approved, of course) to see if it was allergies, but the Reactine didn't help at all. So all weekend long she took baths and slathered on tons of lotion to try to make the feeling go away. Thankfully yesterday and today haven't been an issue but the doctor still wanted to run some tests just in case.

Baby girl has been very active, so that's great. In fact, she would not stay still enough for the doctor to get a good listen to her heart beat. I can just picture her in there, laughing and giggling while she swam around, dodging the doctor who was trying to catch her. Nice to know she's an active baby. Means she's alive and well and happy and kicking.

  1. Poor thing. I had this with my twins so I knew right away what it most likely is. Googled it for you. My twins came 2 months early BUT it was not due to this. It was because I didn't have enough room to keep them inside. That's what I get for being short ha. Dr. put me on Steroids. Everything went fine from there, itching stopped. Keep us posted please. Not to worry. Cholestasis of pregnancy usually occurs in late pregnancy and triggers intense itching, usually on the hands and feet but sometimes on other parts of the body. Cholestasis of pregnancy can be intensely uncomfortable but poses no long-term risk to the mother. Cholestasis of pregnancy can be dangerous for a developing baby, however. Early delivery is usually recommended.

The term "cholestasis" refers to any condition in which the flow of bile, a digestive fluid from the liver, slows or stops. Pregnancy is one of many possible causes of cholestasis. Other names for cholestasis of pregnancy include obstetric cholestasis and intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy.
