UC Baby Ultrasound

After our last ultrasound, we finally made a decision about having a 3D/4D ultrasound done. The picture, if you remember, was not that good. We left quite disappointed and really want to see our baby a lot clearer than the "skeleton" look. A friend of ours (also having a girl) used UC Baby so we looked into it and found one right here in Saskatoon. Before Rhonda left for Houston she asked me to phone and inquire about the hours, packages & payment options and if things seemed okay, to book a session. So guess what I did today? I booked a session!!! We are VERY excited.

So most of you are probably wondering what the heck a 3D/4D ultrasound is and have some questions about it. First off, these are the types of pictures that are captured using the 3D imaging.

4D captures actual movement of the baby so you can watch exactly what's happening at that moment. Click here to watch sample videos.

Now onto the Q&A:

Is 3D Ultrasound safe?
When it comes to safety there is no difference between 3D and traditional 2D Ultrasounds because both ultrasound methods use the same kind of sound waves.

Research in last 50 years show no harm to the developing baby from ultrasound scanning. Ultrasound is one of the safest means available for scanning unborn babies.

Why is UC BABY unique in its offering?
As the first and most experienced 3D ultrasound provider in Canada, we know exactly how to capture the most memorable experience for our clients in a warm, nurturing environment with the most advanced technology available. We are fully committed to providing the highest quality 3D and 4D ultrasound service available. Your UC Baby experience is unique because our founder Tina I. Ureten, MD has set a corporate standard to ensure the highest quality of service.

What are the benefits of 3D or 4D ultrasound?
Because the 3D pictures and 4D videos are more life-like, there is better and stronger bonding between parents and the baby. Increased bonding has been shown to improve mother's care of herself and therefore of her baby. Also 3D ultrasound increases the sense of maternal well-being and enjoyment of the pregnancy.

Are there any risk of 3D or 4D ultrasound?
3D ultrasound uses sound waves to create images the same as in 2D ultrasound. Since the beginning of ultrasound applications in pregnancy in the 1950's there has been no reported short or long-term risk to unborn babies. Indeed, routine ultrasound exams in pregnancy are accepted all over the world today including North America and Europe.

What is 4D Ultrasound?
4D" is shorthand for "four-dimensional"- the fourth dimension being 'time'. 3D ultrasound takes multiple 2-dimensional ultrasound images, creates a 3-dimensional ultrasound. 3D images put back to back in a fast manner to create 4D - the real time- ultrasound movie of the baby with incredible details.

Can 3D ultrasound always give good pictures of the baby's face?
A good picture of baby's face is often obtained but not always. The baby's position, the amount of fluid, location of placenta, hands/cord around the face and maternal size can interfere with images of the face. We book our clients in one-hour time slots to ensure that we spend enough time with each client. If the baby’s face is completely hidden throughout the session, we will repeat your baby scan at no additional charge.

When is the best time for 3D ultrasound?
You can see clear and realistic pictures throughout the pregnancy. In early stages of pregnancy (20 to 26 weeks) you can see amazing baby movements. Later in the pregnancy you may see more details of the face and less activities of the baby. If you are carrying twins, we recommend to have your 3D session between 21-24 weeks of pregnancy.

Can I find out the sex of my baby during the 3D ultrasound?
Yes, you can. The sex is determined after 20 weeks and the accuracy while not 100% is higher with 3D ultrasound. It depends on the baby's position, amniotic fluid around the baby, location of the cord and the mother's body type. If our technician is unable to determine the gender of the baby, a repeat session is offered at no additional charge.

What is the FREE Live Broadcasting feature and how can I take advantage of this service?
Your ultrasound session can be viewed by loved ones who are unable to attend your session. Our FREE Live Broadcasting technology allows you to share your 3D/4D ultrasound experience LIVE and privately across the internet with anyone in the world.

A few days before a scheduled appointment, we require our clients to send us an email containing up to eight email addresses and we’ll take care of the rest!

Who is performing the 3D ultrasound session?
All UC-Baby locations employ only licensed ultrasound technicians. Our professionals obtain extra 3D training to keep our standards the best in the market.

When will I get the pictures and recordings?
You will receive all of your pictures and recordings at the end of your 3D ultrasound session. Your DVD will record the whole ultrasound session with background music. Clients are welcome to bring in their own music CD’s to add a personal touch to their 3D ultrasound experience.

There are a number of package options to choose from. This is the one we are leaning towards, which is the basic package:

So our ultrasound date is set for Saturday, March 31 at 10:00 am. WE ARE SO EXCITED to see our baby girl!!!!!!  ♥  ♥  ♥
