Brielle Is My Goal

"Parents are teachers, guides, leaders, protectors and providers for their children." ~ Iyanla Vanzant

What a powerful statement.

Every parent is so different in how they teach, guide, lead, protect and provide for their children. No parent is alike and in all honesty, you never know if you are doing things the right or wrong way. For me personally, I feel like my parenting thoughts are changing almost daily now that Brielle is 2 and is growing and developing mentally at such a rapid pace. When she was an infant, it seemed a whole lot easier. Sure she was developing mentally, but she wasn't able to express it in the way she does at this age. When she was an infant, it seemed that being a provider and a protector were higher on the priority list as a parent. But at 2, teaching, guiding and leading have most definitely taken the lead.

We live in such a busy world and our lives are forever changing, that it has been easy to push the one-on-one time with Brielle aside. Yes, I'm a stay-at-home mom and I'm with her every single day, making sure she's happy, healthy, cared for, entertained and most importantly, loved. But one thing I always said I wanted to do was set aside time, as often as possible, to teach Brielle. It may not seem important to some parents, to actually set time aside to help their children use their full learning capabilities, but it's always been important to me. I started Brielle out early with learning activities, crafts, games and sensory play. She loved it and so did I, but somewhere along the line, it kind of dwindled away. Life caught up with me and this time together has almost gone away completely. It makes me sad.

Last week I started Chalene Johnson's 30 Day Push Challenge and it's really helped me find some important things that are missing in my life; goals that I want to work towards. Setting aside one-on-one time with Brielle is high on my list and from this day forward, I'm going to work towards bringing this back to our daily routine.

It's funny how we sometimes lose our way. How does it become so easy to stop doing something you clearly love and enjoy? Something that you feel is important to you? I don't think I can honestly answer that without a lame excuse. Life happens and the only thing we can do is PUSH forward with a goal in mind, make the necessary changes and work towards bringing back something we love.

I'm excited. I know she will be too!!

Gotta run. Brielle & I have some work to do. Maybe we'll start by reading a book.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!! ~Crystal
