New Land - New House - New Adventures

Can't wait to be out of the city and building our dream home on 5 acres south of Saskatoon!! Big adventures ahead!!!

We are just in the stages of finalizing the purchase of the property and getting our plans completed. A few details that we can share at the moment are:
  • the property is just shy of 5 acres
  • there is water near the front of the property
  • we are naming our new home/property "The Urban Farmhouse" since the house will be designed to look like a new farmhouse (old farmhouse charm with the comforts of a new home)
  • our house will be 3200 sq feet with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, office, basement and an indoor swimming pool
  • in keeping with the Urban Farmhouse feel, white will be the color scheme in our home
  • we will not be using drywall in our home but instead will be using shiplap, painted white, on the walls (google it if you don't know what shiplap is)
  • our design inspiration comes from Chip & Joanna Gaines at Magnolia Homes in Waco, TX. http://magnoliahomes.net/the-farmhouse/
As plans move along, we'll be sure to share more of the details. We are beyond excited!!!!

  1. Congratulation's. I look forward to following this journey with you girls. My only suggestion is --- if you plan for this to be your last home think old age put handicap grab handles in all the bathrooms & yes the shower. Make your shower a walk in with wheelchair capabilities. Even if not for old age you won't believe how these can make life so much easier even after surgery. When we built our home in AL. we had all these & they are wonderful. Bought this house in Ga. & there are none BUMMER. I miss them. Kathleen

  2. Have you given any thought to an enclosed breeze way with windows from the house to the garage. You have very cold winters & at least you could get from the house to the garage without getting wet or slipping on ice. Wouldn't have to be heated or A/C. Broken bones are no fun as you get older TRUST ME on that statement. It's going to be beautiful. Good luck Kathleen
